The Training of Rolfers

Rolfers are trained and certified by the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, headquartered in Boulder Colorado. The Rolf Institute is regulated by the Colorado State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education.

Successful applicants complete a training program that usually requires 2 years of study and a continuing education program extending for 6 additional years.

The training includes anatomy, physiology and kinesiology; Rolfing theory and structural analysis; soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization methods, spinal mechanics; Rolfing Movement Integration techniques; individual research and written essays; and extensive supervised clinical sessions.
