Series of Processing

Rolfing & Cranial-Sacral are best experienced as a series of sessions. The length of a series will vary with each person based on goals one has for the work, physical/emotional history and lifestyle. Although some find relief after just a few treatments, for most, 8-12 sessions are needed to open and balance the body helping it to a new level of well being.

Sessions are 75 minutes long and generally spaced one to two weeks apart. The work is cumulative with each session building upon the last. The changes set into motion during this process help the body to continue reorganizing for months and even years afterward.

During the initial visit an interview is conducted to better understand the reasons one has for seeking this type of work such as pain relief, poor posture, overall sense of dis-ease etc... A history is also taken which takes into consideration physical traumas, past or current illnesses or conditions, childbirth/pregnancy issues and emotionally stressful life events.

After the interview process an evaluation of vertical posture, weight bearing, body typology and gait analysis is done. This is to see how your body is functioning as a whole, adapting to the force of gravity. Palpation of the different tissues and joints finds specific restrictions interfering with your body's mechanics both locally and more globally. The information gained gives an understanding of how to proceed with the work for each session and over the course of the series.

For most sessions it is necessary for the client to disrobe to their underwear or bathing suit. This allows for better observation and palpation of the body.
